You can use the service to find and determine the current status of a variety of government specs such as MIL, AN, MS and FED - you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download their docs.

Popular specs from Assist On-Line include:
MIL-STD-105E - Sampling Plan / Acceptance Quality Level (AQL) [2.9MB] - this spec was replaced by ANSI Z1.4 but the Government suggests using:

Here's a helpful hint for using Assist On-Line:

Keep in mind that Societies are adopting many Government specifications, which means you will have to pay for the sponsored document. To find the free Government version of many society specifications, type-in a spec number in the <Document Number> field on the ASSIST search page. If you don't know the spec number then use the <Title> field on the search page and type-in a couple of keywords. For instance, SAE AMS STD 2219 used to be MIL-STD-2219 - type-in 2219 in the <Document Number> field or type-in fusion welding in the <Title> field. The free version of the Government's canceled specification may not be the latest release, but...
